On April 1, 2015, axis communications, the global leader of network video, announced the latest zipstream compression technology. Users can reduce bandwidth and improve storage efficiency without updating existing devices and systems. Axis's zipstream technology is fully compatible with H.264 compression standard and is specially designed for video detection applications. It can reduce bandwidth and storage requirements by more than 50%.
Zou Yufan, product manager of axis China, said: "HDTV's high resolution brings high-quality images and improved low illumination performance, which pose new challenges to network and storage. Axis's zipstream technology allows users to greatly optimize bandwidth and compression efficiency without sacrificing important image details. With axis's zipstream technology, users can add more than 2 times more video images on the SD card or in the NAS or front-end storage of axis camera companion. Zipstream adds a new module in the video compression engine of webcam, which can realize that the important image details in the video stream are not lost and the useless data are compressed. "
Axis's zipstream technology can analyze and optimize the video stream of webcam in real time. Important details in the scene are stored according to the highest image quality and resolution, while other unimportant areas are filtered to optimize bandwidth and storage efficiency. Details such as face, tattoo or license plate are specially extracted and stored, while irrelevant areas such as walls, grass and vegetation are smoothed, thus saving storage space and broadband.
Users can use zipstream in combination with "shadow hunting" ultra wide dynamic technology and light Finder technology. Zipstream is fully compatible with H.264 technology, and is suitable for axis camera station, axis camera company and other third-party video management software that users have put into use.
Axis also plans to use zipstream in axis q1615, axis q1635 and axis q35 series through firmware upgrade. The new webcams equipped with zipstream technology will also include axis m1124 / - 3, axis m1125 / - E and axis p1365 / - e fixed cameras, as well as axis p3224-lv / - lve and axis p3225-lv / - lve fixed hemisphere cameras.
Axis m1124 / - E and axis m1125 / - E are low-cost, equipped with zipstream technology, CS lens, day night conversion function, "hunting" ultra wide dynamic (forensiccapture) technology, and analysis function suitable for retail and other price sensitive users as well as indoor and outdoor applications. Axis m1124 / - E and axis m1125 / - e webcams are expected to be available in the second quarter of 2015.
Axis p1365 and outdoor axis p1365-e network cameras are equipped with "shadow hunting" ultra wide dynamic (forensiccapture) technology, audio detection technology, remote focusing function and zipstream technology. The series can achieve seamless conversion between wide dynamic range and light finder mode with excellent image quality, especially suitable for indoor and outdoor applications such as banking and urban monitoring. Axis p1365 and axis p1365-e are expected to be available on April 9, 2015.
Axis p3224-lv / - lve and axis p3225-lv / - lve fixed hemisphere cameras are streamlined, versatile and easy to install. They combine "Huishi" IR and "hunting shadow" ultra wide dynamic technology to ensure that users can obtain high-quality images under any lighting conditions. Axis's zipstream technology greatly optimizes broadband and compression requirements without sacrificing image details. Axis p3224-lv / - LV and axis p3225-lv / - LV are expected to be available in the second quarter of 2015.
